Student Recognition

We feel it is important to recognize students for their successes, so we implemented two ‘card’ programs at the high school:

AWESOME ARROW CARDS

These cards are handed out quarterly.  They are sponsored by local businesses

listed on the back of each card giving the students certain percentages off on their purchases from that business.  The students also receive a t-shirt specially designed by a fellow student or faculty member and a certificate!

Gold Card – 4.0 GPA or higher (weighted AP classes) for the quarter

Silver Card – 3.5 GPA or higher for the quarter

Purple Card – Perfect Attendance for the quarter

Bronze Card – Increased GPA of .5 or more for the quarter

Game Show – 3rd quarter cards, t-shirts, and certificates are handed out during an all school assembly along with playing a few games with prizes awarded for the winners of the games.   Mr. Butts feels that it is important that all four classes come together once in a while to give the students a sense of closeness within their school.

ARROWS ON TARGET

These cards are distributed by the teachers to students for doing something above and beyond the norm.  The teachers have 6 cards to give out each quarter.  The student who receives a card turns that card in for a free breakfast item at the school cafeteria.  These cards are kept and collected from the kitchen each quarter by the principals office.  At the end of the quarter, the students are called down and recognized with a short ceremony, group picture taken, and then one card is drawn from the bunch and that student wins $50 in Watertown bucks, redeemable

at any of the businesses belonging to the Watertown Chamber of Commerce.  That student has his photo taken receiving the Watertown bucks.  Both of these photos are then displayed in a special case outside the Superintendant’s Office.
