Bisco
History
BISCO (Business Industry School Coalition) began in 1991 by Superintendent Ernie Edwards.   Mr. Edwards, along with several business people, believed simply that businesses could help our students.   The original purpose of BISCO was to create a partnership between the local businesses and the Watertown School District, and BISCO began its mission as a springboard to develop new and unique educational opportunities for our students.

BISCO’s original goals were focused on helping students become quality employees, good citizens and contributing members of society.   This goal was accomplished by bringing together business people and educators to learn from each other and build a foundation that would link the schools, business, and community.   Those original goals have continued to evolve over the years.

BISCO has started many projects that have been very successful.   One such project has been the creation of our current Arrow Education Foundation.   This idea, originally the Alumni Association, began at a BISCO board meeting.   This one idea has grown into the Arrow Education Foundation, a thriving entity within the Watertown School District, that provides thousands of dollars of innovative grants to our staff and students each year.   Other past and current projects are listed on this website under the BISCO Projects tab.

BISCO has gone through several strategic planning sessions and included many board members over the past 16 years.   BISCO has begun many projects and programs that have been passed to other groups within the Watertown School District or to other outside community groups.   BISCO’s new mission revolves around creating holistic opportunities for our students.
